The Vision: Beyond Basic Storage

When we were called to this North Port residence, the client was struggling with a common "builder-grade" problem: a spacious walk-in closet that felt cluttered and disorganized due to inefficient wire shelving. The goal was to pivot from a utility space to a boutique-inspired sanctuary that reflected the luxury of the rest of the home.

Design & Engineering Details

At RMS Custom Woodworking, we believe the beauty is in the details you don't see. This custom-built unit was engineered using premium, moisture-resistant materials to handle the Southwest Florida climate, ensuring the drawers never stick and the finish never fades.

• Integrated Drawer Suite: We moved away from the standard "shelf-only" approach by installing five full-extension, soft-close drawers. This provides dust-free storage for delicate items while keeping the visual lines of the closet clean.

• The Signature "Topper": To break up the monochromatic white, we added a hand-stained dark wood topper. This provides a durable surface for jewelry boxes or accessories and acts as a sophisticated visual anchor.

• Textural Backing: One of the standout features of this project is the custom shiplap back-paneling. This subtle texture adds a "Coastal Modern" flair that separates high-end custom carpentry from mass-produced modular systems.

• Minimalist Hardware: We selected matte black slim-profile pulls to provide a modern contrast, tying the cabinetry into the home’s updated aesthetic.

The Functional Result

By utilizing the full vertical height of the room, we were able to double the hanging capacity while simultaneously adding dedicated drawer storage. The open shelving at the top provides the perfect home for seasonal items or luxury display pieces (like the Louis Vuitton accents seen in the final reveal).
