Maximizing Function Without Sacrificing Style

At RMS Custom Carpentry & Woodworking, we believe custom work should feel like it belongs in the home from day one. This Siesta Key kitchen project was a perfect example of how thoughtful design and precise craftsmanship can improve both the look and function of a space.

The existing cabinetry above the microwave needed to be replaced with a custom hood unit that blended seamlessly with the surrounding cabinets. Instead of creating something that looked added on, we matched the stain to the existing cabinetry, giving the finished piece a built-in appearance that complemented the kitchen’s original design.

The Transformation

This project was designed around two key goals: creating a custom hood solution and improving the functionality of a smaller kitchen layout.

The installation features:

• Custom Hood Unit:We replaced the existing cabinetry above the microwave with a custom-built hood unit designed to fit the space and align with the surrounding cabinetry.

• Custom Stain Matching:The new hood unit was carefully stained to match the existing cabinetry, helping the piece blend naturally into the kitchen instead of standing out as a replacement.

• Space-Saving Appliance Cart:To make better use of the limited kitchen space, we built a custom appliance cart sized specifically for the client’s appliance and the available floor area.

• Functional Custom Design:The appliance cart added flexibility and storage without overcrowding the kitchen, proving that even small spaces can benefit from a custom-built solution.
